Saline nasal washes have been used for years to alleviate allergies, chronic sinus infections, and sinus headaches. Recent studies have found that using solutions containing antibiotics, antifungals or anti-inflammatories can be very effective in treating patients with chronic sinusitis, whether bacterial, fungal or allergic.
A recent study published in PubMed stated that "The topical application of mupirocin via nasal irrigation may be useful in eliminating S. aureus biofilms present on the sinusmucosa of patients with CRS and may offer an additional treatment to patients with recalcitrant sinusitis." *
Another study released by the Department of Otolaryngology, Division of Rhinology, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, reported that "As opposed to normal saline irrigations, topical tobramycin led to a significant improvement in the degree of infection within an animal model of P. aeruginosa sinusitis." **
At Pharmacy Innovations, we compound a wide variety of antibiotic, antifungal and anti-inflammatory preparations for sinus irrigation. Our USP<797> compliant sterile facility insures that your patients will always receive the highest quality mediations.
