Complex regional pain syndrome (formerly Regional Sympathetic Dystrophy syndrome) is a multifactorial disorder that is characterized by chronic pain, edema, sweating, sensory changes and temperature disturbance in affected extremities. It is a progressive, chronic condition. Although its pathogenesis is yet to be determined, it is known to involve the central nervous system as well as the sympathetic nervous system. CRPS is most often precipitated by peripheral trauma (crushing injuries, lacerations, fractures, sprains, burns or surgery) to soft tissue or nerve complexes.
This neuropathic pain syndrome is among the most difficult to treat successfully. At Pharmacy Innovations we can help you to develop a customized, individual treatment regimen that will treat your patients' specific needs. This is often accomplished through the use of topical pain compounds. Our pharmacists are happy to work with you and your patients to create a convenient and effective treatment plan and also offer personalized pain consultations.
